Lisa had been grooming dogs in Boise for eight years. She was good — fully booked most weeks through word-of-mouth and repeat clients. But she had a problem she didn't know about: she was completely invisible on Google.

Not page two invisible. Not "you have to scroll" invisible. She wasn't on the first ten pages of results for "dog groomer Boise." When someone who didn't already know her name searched for a groomer, Lisa didn't exist.

What We Found

Her Google Business Profile was unclaimed — someone (probably Google) had auto-generated a listing with her business name and a phone number, but it had no photos, no services, no hours, and the primary category was set to "Pet Service" instead of "Pet Groomer." Her website was a five-page Squarespace site with the title tag "Home" on every page.

Meanwhile, two corporate grooming chains and a mobile groomer who'd been posting weekly GBP updates were splitting all the local search traffic.

What We Did

First, we claimed and verified her Google Business Profile. Set the primary category to "Pet Groomer," added every service she offers with descriptions and pricing, uploaded 30+ photos of her actual work (not stock photos), and wrote a description that mentions Boise, the neighborhoods she serves, and what makes her different.

Then we set up a weekly posting schedule on GBP — before-and-after grooming photos with a short caption. Lisa was already taking these photos for her Instagram; we just repurposed them.

On the website side, we fixed every title tag (each page got a unique, location-specific title), added a proper services page with schema markup, and created a simple FAQ page targeting "dog groomer Boise" long-tail searches.

We also started a review strategy. Lisa had 11 Google reviews — all organic, all 5-star, but she'd never asked for one. We set up a simple text message she sends after each appointment with a direct link to leave a review. Within three months she had 47.

What Changed

Within six weeks, she appeared in Google Maps results for the first time. By month four, she was consistently in the top 3 (the "Maps 3-pack") for "dog groomer Boise," "dog grooming near me" from within the city, and several breed-specific searches.

Her Google Business Profile went from 89 views per month to over 1,200. Monthly clicks from Google search went from 12 to 147. She started getting 3-4 new client calls per week from people who found her on Google — people she'd never have reached through word-of-mouth alone.

The best part: she didn't spend a dollar on ads. This was all organic — GBP optimization, basic on-page SEO, and a consistent review strategy.
